Past Events (2025/26)
Meet & Greet - 06/10/2025
On the 6th of October 2025, we hosted a Meet & Greet as an opportunity for members to meet the committee and get an overview of the events we are hosting this year (including the highly popular mentorship programme and coding workshop!) We invited two guest speakers – Tristan Derry (co-founder of Orbion) and Mads Nørløv (founder and board member of Copenhagen MedTech) – who gave insightful talks on their experience. It didn't stop here; we also had free Japanese food from Nazuki Garden and Thai food from Rosa's Thai (our sponsors!)
Harvard, MIT and Startup Life: Talk with Dr. Sharei (CEO of Portal) on Cell Engineering and Entrepreneurship - 15/10/2025
In this collab with the UCL Genetics Society and Biochemistry Society, Dr. Armon Sharei, the CEO of Portal, shared highlights of his academic journey and how he turned groundbreaking research into a successful pioneering biotech startup, Portal (https://portal.bio/).
From Uni to Biotech Startup: Zayd Lakhi - 20/10/2025
In this collaboration between the MedTech and Pharmacology Societies, we invited Zayd Lakhi, the founder of Amplisynth (a pioneering startup in automated DNA synthesis), to give a talk on his work and how he started his journey. Zayd Lakhi is also a former Imperial College London scientist and was shortlisted for a £3M grant by Pfizer to work on Huntington's disease.
Drinks and Thinks - 30/10/2025
A collaboration between UCL's MPBE, Engineering, MedTech, Life Sciences and Biomedical Sciences Societies, this unforgettable night at the Cocktail Cabinet was an opportunity for members to network and celebrate the frontiers of medical innovation while having fun! We also had a raffle game with cool prizes, including a JBL speaker and exclusive society merch!
